Go for a stroll or picnic in Prospect Park
When the leaves start changing color, there’s no better place to be than Prospect Park. With 526 acres of green space, the park is perfect for a stroll, a family picnic, or a more vigorous hike.
It’s also the home to a forest and the city’s only lake. And with plenty of photo-worthy spots, you’re sure to get some great shots to document the season.
You can pack a picnic lunch and head to one of Brooklyn’s many parks. With the cooler weather, find a spot to set up your picnic blanket and enjoy a meal outdoors.

Some suitable farms for pumpkin pickings are:
- Great Meadows Farm (3159 Flatbush Avenue)

Autumn gives you the best weather to cozy up with a pint of seasonal beer. Luckily, Brooklyn is home to plenty of great breweries where you can find the perfect fall brew.
Our favorites include Brooklyn Brewery, Other Half Brewing, and Five Boroughs Brewing Co.
Get lost in a corn maze
Looking for a family-friendly activity? Then head to a local corn maze!

Many tours also include stops at haunted pubs and restaurants, so you can get a drink or bite to eat.
Go for a scenic hike
Take a hike and get your body toned up while enjoying the outdoors. There are a couple of beautiful trails in Brooklyn that you will enjoy in the chilly autumn weather.
Grab your hiking boots and visit the Salt Marsh Nature Trail on East 33rd Street and Avenue U. It goes through Gerritsen Beach and ends in Jamaica Bay. You can also explore the Peninsula to Lookout Hill trail at Prospect Park.
